Note: ‘Faculty member’ refers to contract, associate, and allied faculty
Champion of Inclusivity
Award to be given to the faculty member (s) who demonstrates a high level of instructional, allied, or student services effectiveness with the inclusion of curriculum and/or services and instructional techniques that respect all people regardless of gender, age, race/ethnicity, color, religion, creed, nationality, and mental or physical condition.
Curriculum Development
Award to be given to the faculty member(s) who has developed outstanding programs, curriculum, and/or teaching materials/instructional techniques that have made a positive impact on the campus community.
Innovative Use of Technology in Education
Award to be given to the faculty member(s) who has embraced the creative use of technology and demonstrated a measurable increase in student learning/success/program completion, particularly through the pandemic.
Outstanding Contributions by Associate Faculty Member
Award to be given to the faculty member(s) who has contributed to their department, students, and/or college-wide community by creating an exceptional educational atmosphere that enhances the classroom, department, and/or campus environment.
Professional Achievement
Award to be given to the faculty member(s) who has participated in professional development, community service activities, and/or other professional activities that support the college’s mission, benefit students, and/or positively impact the campus-wide community.
Staff Development
Award to be given to the faculty member(s) who has served as a role model/mentor for other faculty members by the creation and implementation of team development and/or leadership efforts across campus. Someone who has taken exceptional efforts to support the college community by providing training, workshops, and/or other activities that enhance the professional development of others.
Unsung Hero
Award to be given to the faculty member(s) whose commitment and passion has made a profoundly positive contribution to students, their department, and/or the college community at large, with no expectation of praise or recognition.
Excellence in Teaching Award (formerly NISOD)
Award to be given to one faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and sensitivity to student needs by the use of instructional pedagogy that is receptive and embraces students’ ideas and unique viewpoints and promotes an all-inclusive learning environment that helps students make discriminating, yet open minded judgments and points of view. Note: This award comes with a $2000 professional development stipend.
